Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi launched its flagship smartphone, the Mi5 earlier this year. And for the first time, a Xiaomi product was unveiled at MWC (Mobile World Congress). While India only got one variant of the device, it seems that a small upgrade to the smartphone is in the works.
According to some Chinese media sources, Xiaomi is working on the all new Mi5S which is being rumoured to come with a metal body and pressure sensitive display something offering similar features like Apple’s 3D Touch. This feature was rumoured before the company announced the Mi5, but it was missing in the device. The rumours also point out that Xiaomi will incorporate an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor from Qualcomm and maybe even a dual-camera setup.
Since the RAM wars have begun, the new Mi5S is also expected to offer 6GB of RAM following the trends of LeEco and OnePlus. Rest of the features might be the same as the original Mi5 including a 5.15-inch full HD display and a Snapdragon 820 or maybe even an 823 SoC.
The Mi5s is expected to arrive in the second half of this year so we can expect some more information and rumours till it actually makes an official appearance. There are also rumours that the company will announce the Mi Note 2 this year which will be 5.7-inch phablet offering similar features and top of the line hardware as the Mi5S. If Xiaomi does plan to announce a new Mi Note, we really hope that this time it brings the device to India.
