The latest editorial piece in Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece has targeted Modi for not fulfilling the promises he made during the election campaign in 2014.
In a fresh editorial piece, Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana raised some crucial issues which were promised before the 2014 General Elections by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the piece, Sena lashed out at Modi on his claims to bring back black money to make the country prosperous.
During his campaign in the run-up to the elections, Modi had statedthat reclaiming the black money deposited abroad can assure a sum of about Rs 15 lakh for every citizen. In their critique, Shiv Sena asked Modi how many of the citizens had received Rs 15 lakh in their bank accounts in the last two years. Modi’s radio programme ‘Mann ki Baat‘ to reach out to the masses too was lambasted in the latest release.
This is the second day in a row that Saamana has come out and criticised the BJP government. On Monday, Saamana had criticized BJP leaders who had been calling for the burning of the Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece. In the Monday column, the Sena mouthpiece had condemned the BJP leaders’ statements by saying that all those who wanted the daily to be burned were attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ideology.
Here’s what Saamana said on Tuesday:
- What happened to the promise that was made before the elections to bringing back black money for the nation’s development?
- In the last two years, how many citizens have received Rs 15 lakh in their bank accounts?
- BJP leaders from Mumbai too should come on radio to answer these crucial questions.
- Attacking and silencing those questioning the system is not a part of our culture.
- Black money is not restricted to business, Bollywood and terrorists outfits. It is prevalent in politics and it is the need of the hour to address this.
- One does not need to scout Switzerland or Mauritius to reclaim black money. Modi can succeed in his mission if he unearths black money that is circulating within the country.
- ‘Mann ki baat’ is like hot tea and in a bid to attract listeners, several areas in Mumbai ironically catered free tea.
- The country is undergoing a change. We do not want free tea, we want the promised Rs 15 lakh deposited in our bank accounts.
