The Indian government will take a decision on the issue of carving out a separate Telangana state from Andhra Pradesh in a matter of thirty days. This was said by the Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
“A decision will be taken within a month… we have heard the members of various parties… we have noted their views and will brief the government about it,” Shinde told mediapersons after conducting an all-party meet on the issue.
Aware of the fact that the people of Andhra Pradesh were suffering, Shinde appealed to the youth for peace and said the government was taking a decision.
The Congress-led UPA government, which has not shown much of an interest when it comes to the contentious Telangana statehood issue for the last three or four years on one pretext or the other, is now compelled to come up with some sort of solution to the decades-old demand.
